Phone warning explained

What does “Charging Paused” mean?

Charging has stopped temporarily, commonly because of temperature, moisture or an enabled battery-protection feature.

Common causes

  • Phone too hot or cold
  • Charge limit or optimized charging
  • Accessory or moisture warning

What to try first

  1. Disconnect power if the phone is hot
  2. Move to a normal room temperature
  3. Read the complete on-screen message

What not to do

  • Do not cool a phone in a freezer
  • Do not override a safety warning
Stop if the phone is unsafe

Disconnect power and stop using a swollen, smoking, leaking, physically damaged or extremely hot phone. Contact the manufacturer or a qualified repair provider.

When support may be needed

Contact the carrier for account, SIM/eSIM, PUK, coverage or network-lock issues. Contact the manufacturer or qualified repair provider when the warning follows impact, liquid, unsafe heat or persistent built-in hardware failures.
